Many subjects.
One foundational truth.

At Searcy Christian Academy, we believe the Bible is our authority on how to live life; we are committed to educating with eternity in mind. We utilize the Abeka Curriculum for our core educational courses and our Bible curriculum comes from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), both of which have the common goal of academic accomplishment and Christian character.

Elementary Curriculum

At Searcy Christian Academy, we believe the Bible is the authority on how to live life. We utilize the Abeka Curriculum to guide our core courses for students so they can have a well-rounded education that will provide a supportive foundation for their future.

Bible Study

Through daily Bible lessons in the classroom and weekly chapel services, Scripture is taught specifically and systematically. Searcy Christian strives to ensure that everyone - from the youngest student to the most senior faculty member - says, does, teaches, and learns everything from a Biblical worldview.

English

We believe that the written word is a critical part of the learning process and that understanding it can’t be understated. After all, God chose to reveal Himself through a book - The Bible.

Because of this, we teach the importance of mastering grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and structure as they are the building blocks of both reading and writing.

We also focus on teaching students how to understand an author’s intent and thinking so that they can dissect what they read. Furthermore, we encourage them to present their own views, clearly and persuasively, in writing.

Reading

We use an intensive, systematic phonics approach to reading, beginning as soon as students are able to read simple words. Phonics lessons are taught through meaningful, character-building stories that work to form a mental relationship between phonics and concepts we have already introduced.

This allows students to not only develop exceptional reading skills and enjoy reading, but also to build character skills that will stick with them beyond the classroom.

We explore a wide variety of literature from classic and poetry to modern stories and children’s novels. Learning activities include comprehension, vocabulary, and Bible reading.

History

We approach history with the goal of understanding the past and preparing for our roles in the future. We understand the role that memorization of names, dates, places, and events play, but we want students to walk away with more than just a list of facts committed to memory.

We focus on portrayals of people, lands, religions, ideals, heroes, triumphs, and setbacks - while maintaining historical accuracy.

Students of our history program will be able to see what mankind has done in the time God has given us and learn how to become better stewards of all that He will give us in the future.

Mathematics

We believe that “mathematics is the language God used in His creation of the universe, and thus it is logical, orderly, beautiful, and very practical in science and in daily life.”

We maintain an emphasis on learning the basic mathematical skills that students will need to get through life. We also seek to teach them to understand the absolutes of the universe, to strive to get the right answers, and to see the truth and order God has built into the universe.

Science

We believe science is the study of God’s creation and that He uses his creation to reveal Himself. “The heavens declare His righteousness, and all the people see His glory.” Psalm 97:6

We present scientific pursuits as man’s desire to understand and subdue the Earth, as God created us to do.

We teach the biblical truth that God actively and purposefully created the universe and the laws which it (and all its inhabitants) follows.

Our goal is to inspire a sense of wonder and curiosity in God’s great Creation and to equip students to understand the sciences.

Searcy Christian Academy Statement of Faith

The foundation for teaching the Word in the classroom is based on some foundational truths. SCA believes:

1. The Bible to be the inspired and only infallible, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God (2 Timothy 3:15; 2 Peter 1:21).

2. That there is one God, Yahweh, eternally existent as Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1; John 1:1-3; John 10:30; John 14:25).

3. The Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ (John 10:33), in His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:35), in His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15; 7:26), His miracles (John 2:11); His vicarious and atoning death (I Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 2:9); in His bodily resurrection( John 11:25; I Corinthians 15:4); His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19); and in the hope of His personal, visible future return to earth to receive to Himself His blood-bought Church that it may be with Him forever. (Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:1).

4. In the precious blood of Christ, and that regeneration is absolutely essential for personal salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature; and that people are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ and that only by God's grace and through faith alone are we saved (John 3:16; Titus 3:5).

5. In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of the damnation (John 5:28-29).

6. In the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 12:12-13; Galatians 3: 26-28).

7. In the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life (Romans 8:13-14; I Corinthians 3:16; 6:19-20; Ephesians 4:30; 5:18).

8. In the liberty of each individual to pursue the Christ life as shown in the Scriptures, free of the guilt of sin, religious legalism and condemnation, because of the atoning blood of Jesus Christ. (Romans 8:1; Galatians 5:1, 25)

9. In showing the love and compassion of Christ to all especially those in the faith. (John 15:9-17; Galatians 5:13; 6:8-10)
